Menu for Micro-Conferencing
Students should select one of the following options/activities to guide their work with their tutor.
Brainstorming: Review an assignment and discuss possible launch points
Outlining: Review an assignment and work to create an outline to organize the writer’s ideas/research
Finding sources: Search for sources/evidence to back up a claim; try out search techniques (i.e. using limiters) for databases
Citations: Review a citation style (MLA, APA, etc.), learn how to “grab” citations from a database, discuss when/how to use in-text citations, and/or explore Google Scholar
Thesis/argument review: Discuss thesis/argument statement and review a maximum of three pages of text to check on development/consistency of argument
One page review: Review/edit up to one page of text for flow, grammar, usage, style, and mechanics
