Borrowing Policies

Welcome

As of July 1, 2023 Mason Library welcomes residents of New Hampshire to visit, browse the stacks, and request a free borrower's card. We are expanding your options for using our physical collections if you are interested in visiting us in person. However, you are still able to request materials through interlibrary loan at your local public library if you prefer.

How does it work?

  • To obtain a free card, adults should bring official identification and proof of residency with them to the library they plan to visit.
  • Minors may obtain a card with a parent or guardian signature.
  • The card is free and there are no late fees. However, there may be charges for damage or loss.

What can be borrowed?

New Hampshire residents may borrow print books, DVDs, and CDs

Loan periods are as follows:

  • Print books 4 weeks
  • DVDs 1 week (limit of 5 DVDs)
  • CDs 1 week

Books can be renewed twice and other items once.

Does the card enable me to search the library's electronic/digital collections?

Our database licenses specify that remote access is available only to current students, faculty, and staff but most of these databases can be accessed onsite at our libraries--ask at a service desk for more information. This includes e-journals, e-books, and e-newspapers.
