Law

There are four categories of state law: statutory, regulatory, case law and constitutional law. Statutory law is enacted by the legislative branch of government. Regulatory law is promulgated by executive agencies. Case law, or opinions, are written by the judicial branch of government. No laws may be in conflict with the United States Constitution, which is the highest law in the land. State laws may not be in conflict with the New Hampshire constitution.
