To work in the library and information science field - you should look for programs that are accredited by the American Library Association. The ALA provides a Searchable Directory of Accredited Master's Programs.
You can ask the library faculty where they earned their degree - we are also familiar with a number of programs.
Increasingly there are fully online programs and programs that are only face-to-face. Some programs include a blended-learning model where you'll attend classes on campus for a weekend or a week a couple of times throughout the program, while the rest you'll engage in online coursework. Make sure you consider how you best learn, what your general life commitments are, and what type of experience you are looking for.
No matter where you chose, we suggest finding a school that is affordable, exciting, and provides the ability for first-hand experience. We highly recommend seeking out internships and field experiences. These will be invaluable as you begin to apply for professional positions.
Each state has a state library organization - and they usually have a list of open positions in the state.
