The Children's Literature Center serves those organizations and individuals who study, produce, collect, interpret, and disseminate children's books, films, television programs, or other forms of materials destined for children's information and recreational use, usually outside the classroom. The Center does not serve children directly.

The Children’s Book Council is the national nonprofit trade association for children’s trade book publishers. The Children’s Book Council works annually on reading lists to help teachers, librarians, parents, and booksellers discover new, wonderful books for the children in their lives.

The mission of the Children's Literature Association is to encourage high standards of criticism, scholarship, research, and teaching in children’s literature.

DAWCL has over 8,000 records from 86 awards across six English-speaking countries (United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, England, and Ireland). The purpose of the database is to create a tailored reading list of quality children's literature or to find out if a book has won one of the indexed awards.
